A new pharmacy will open after the closure of two premises left a town with a “critical gap” in healthcare.

Allied Pharmacy will open on 9 March in Wellington, Somerset, in the former base of the Jhoots outlet on Mantle Street.

Last year, Jhoots closed its doors, while the pharmacy in Boots shut in 2024, leaving the town with just two pharmacies. In November, it was announced Allied Pharmacies had taken over 60 Jhoots stores across the UK.

The town’s Liberal Democrat MP, Gideon Amos said he was “delighted” to see a new site open in Wellington.
