ITV has shared an exciting update on its upcoming reboot of Dalziel and Pascoe. The new detective series, starring Kerry Godliman and Nina Singh in the central roles, has officially begun filming.
The broadcaster shared the news via Instagram today, with a special behind-the-scenes snap of the two leads. In the picture, Godliman and Singh are grinning and holding a clapperboard together, marking their first day on set.
“Kerry Godliman and Nina Singh are officially on set filming for the reimagining of the classic detective series, Dalziel and Pascoe! 🎬” reads the caption on the post, which saw several fans expressing excitement in the comment section.

The original series aired on the BBC from 1996 to 2007 and was based on the novels by crime author Reginald Hill. It featured male leads Warren Clarke (Andy Dalziel) and Colin Buchanan (Peter Pascoe) as the unlikely detective duo.
The new series was announced earlier this year as a “fresh and contemporary reimagining”, and will star Taskmaster‘s Godliman as seasoned Detective Inspector Andrea Dalziel.
Meanwhile, Singh, who recently featured in BBC’s Virdee, will be playing “newly qualified, by the book perfectionist” Detective Sergeant Paige Pascoe.
The show’s description reads: “Despite their clashing methods, Dalziel and Pascoe work together to form a formidable partnership that is underscored by humour, heart and humanity.”
The reboot is co-created by Vera writer Colette Kane and Daisy Martey, with a number of other writers helping to pen the series. It will consist of six episodes, which are directed by Isher Sahota and produced by Juliet Charlesworth.

Speaking about her character, Godliman said: “It’s a juicy role as she’s such an interesting personality – accomplished at her job, warm, but also direct to the point of being abrasive. Weary and warm hearted. Lots to get my teeth into!”
Singh added: “It’s an absolute honour to be playing Pascoe to Kerry Godliman’s Dalziel. I find Kerry hilarious, so I know at times I’ll struggle not to be laughing. Colette Kane and the writing team have incorporated humour so well into the scripts at the same time as keeping you constantly guessing what’ll happen next – in true Dalziel and Pascoe form.”
ITV’s Dalziel and Pascoe has no release date.
