Mini PCs are the way to go if you’re looking to get a new project off the ground affordably. And while most mini PCs will come preconfigured, we like the idea of a barebone mini PC offering, simply because you may be able to utilize old parts to make it an absolute beast. Not for everyone
Now we know that popping in parts into a mini PC isn’t going to be for everyone. But, if you have some old parts you’ll never use lying around, then this mini PC might be a good way to get a project started.
When it comes to its core, you’re looking at an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor, which is a versatile CPU that can handle most things you throw at it. Plus, it has an integrated Vega graphics card that’s powerful enough to play most modern games.
Now, this is where things get interesting, because this model doesn’t come with any RAM or storage. So, you’ll have to supply your own. The device can support up to 64GB DDR4 RAM and up to 2TB of M.2 SSD storage.
It’s a decently high ceiling for a cheap mini PC, especially when most affordable models can’t even be upgraded. When it comes to the ports, you’re looking at two USB-A in the front, along with two additional USB-A in the rear. The rear panel also features Ethernet, two HDMI, USB-C, and power port.
There’s also wireless connectivity using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 6. One final note is that this mini PC doesn’t come preloaded with an OS. So, you’ll have to supply your own, using a Windows license or downloading Linux. Again, the $200 price tag and what you get won’t be for everyone, but this is going to speak to someone out there.
