The search for a man missing from Dublin for over a week has been stood down following the discovery of a body, gardai have confirmed.

Mark Farnham, aged 63, was reported missing from his home in Rathcoole on Friday, February 27.

Gardai launched a public appeal shortly after his disappearance, describing Mark as being 5′ 10″ tall, with grey/silver hair and blue eyes.

They added that he was wearing a green/dark jacket, outdoor trousers, brown hiking boots and a backpack when he was last seen.

Officers said both his family and gardai were concerned for his wellbeing. At the time, a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of Mark Farnham (63) who was reported missing from his home in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin since Friday, 27th February 2026.

“Mark was last seen in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin on the afternoon of Friday, 27th February 2026. Mark is described as being 5 feet 10 inches in height, with grey/silver hair and blue eyes. When last seen Mark was wearing a green/dark jacket, outdoor trousers, brown hiking boots and a backpack.

“Gardai and Mark’s family are concerned for his well-being. Anyone with information on Mark’s whereabouts is asked to contact Clondalkin Garda Station on (01) 666 7600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 66 6 111, or any Garda Station.”

In a heartbreaking update this afternoon, gardai confirmed that the missing persons appeal has been stood down following the discovery of a body. They thanked the public for their help.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Following the discovery of a man’s body, the missing person appeal in respect of Mark Farnham (63) who was reported missing from his home in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin since Friday, 27th February 2026, has been stood down.

“An Garda Síochána would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance.”
