Marya’s family are concerned for her well-being

Update: Marya has been found safe and well, with Gardaí thanking the public for their assistance.

Gardaí have asked for the public’s help in locating a Cork teenager who failed to return to her family home in North Cork after travelling to the city centre.

Marya Hamdan was last seen in the Peace Park area of the city centre on Saturday afternoon. The 13-year-old lives in Mallow, and it’s believed she had travelled to Cork city by train.

The teenager stands between 5’3″ and 5’4″ with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes. When she was last seen, Marya was wearing a black puffy jacket with a fur collar, blue jeans, and a hijab.

Gardaí and the Hamdan family are concerned for Marya’s well-being, and anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts has been asked to contact Gardaí.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of Marya Hamdan (13), who was reported missing from Mallow, Co. Cork, since Saturday, 7th March 2026. Marya was last seen in the area of Peace Park, Cork City, on the afternoon of Saturday, 7th March 2026.

“Marya is described as being 5 foot 3 or 4 inches in height, with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes. When last seen, Marya was wearing a black puffy jacket with fur on the collar, blue jeans and a hijab.

“It is believed that Marya had travelled by train to Cork City. Gardaí and Marya’s family are concerned for her well-being.”
