“I hope everybody finds their best friend through this app, because life is meant to be shared. Not just in romantic relationships, but in every kind of friendship and connection you can imagine.”

The app also includes a rating feature so the community can share whether they had a great experience with someone or a not so great experience. Aitken also offered some additional safety tips for meeting someone new, including doing research beforehand by looking them up on Facebook and other social media. You should also tell someone you trust where you’re going, who you’re meeting and when you expect to be back.
“Before getting into a vehicle with someone for the first time, ask them to take a selfie with you behind their vehicle, including the license plate, and send that photo to your trusted contact.”
What makes Find My Plus One stand apart is that the Saskatchewan-built app was developed right here on the prairies, and not in a Silicon Valley boardroom.
“Your data isn’t sitting in the hands of a multi-billion dollar tech company on the other side of the continent,” said Aitken.
The app is currently launching across Canada for both Android and iOS.
