Google’s Find Hub is just one of those features that often flies under the radar, but can really save you from a world of hurt if you ever lose or have a device that goes missing. It’s a valuable tool that Google has slowly improved over the years, introducing new features, while also making small tweaks here and there.

So, it should come as no surprise that Google is once again making a change to Find Hub, but this time, people’s reactions might be mixed. 9to5Google reports that Find Hub has now shed a layer of security, no longer requiring a PIN or biometric authentication. The update comes via a server-side change, and should be rolling out to most people right now.

Something new to check out

Find Hub will now make it easier to gain access to all your connected devices. So, without any PINs or biometrics, you’ll be able to see all compatible products on your account, making it even faster to track and find missing or lost devices.

Some might not agree with this change, but for the most part, it should be fairly safe, considering that you need to unlock the phone to access that area in the first place. We could see how this could be an issue if you share you are someone that shares their device with people.

It’s a new change, so there’s always the change that Google changes things back, but for now, this is something to be aware of. As stated previously, you won’t need to run any updates because this is a server-side change. When it’s available, you’ll see it on your device.

However, like always, we do recommend updating any software on your device that can be updated. And if you haven’t given Find Hub a try, do it now. It will make your life much simpler if you ever manage to lose something or if it happens to go missing. You just pop into the app, check where the device is, and you can start from there.

Personally, I use it for my phone and to keep an eye on my backpack and luggage when I travel. While it’s rare to leave stuff behind, luggage is something that can be a bit outside our control, so it can be handy to track how it’s moving, when you’re traveling to and from destinations.
