Scotland may have an incredibly poor record against Ireland, but they will come to Dublin this weekend full of confidence that they can secure a first victory on Irish soil since 2010.
Gregor Townsend’s side have bounced back from their Six Nations opener defeat against Italy in impressive fashion, earning shock wins over both England and France in Edinburgh. While their performances away have been less convincing, they will face an Ireland side who have their own struggles despite the positive results in this season’s championship.
The Scots are certainly not short on belief, with Darcy Graham saying that Andy Farrell’s side will be ‘there for the taking’ on Saturday afternoon.

Ireland struggles give Scotland Dublin hope
Scotland’s issue against Ireland in the past has been a lack of impact up front, failing to deal with the power of the Irish pack. They hope that trend will be reversed this weekend, with the Scottish improving in those positions while some of their opposition players have been struggling for form.
Speaking on Rugby Union Weekly, Sam Warburton suggested that the recent questionable displays from the likes of Tadhg Furlong and Joe McCarthy could give Scotland a chance to secure a big result in this game, even if Ireland do remain favourites.
I think now that they have got a pack that can go to Dublin and disrupt, whereas before I would have been like ‘I think Ireland will do them up front’.
When [Tadhg] Furlong is on song and [Joe] McCarthy is on song, they’ve got that bit of physicality that Scotland didn’t have.
I think [Jack] Dempsey might not be fit for the weekend, but you’ve got [Pierre] Schoeman carrying and [George] Turner is explosive with ball in hand, they’ve got a pack that can dominate Ireland.
I think Ireland are favourites to win by the way. Ireland are exceptionally good at home. But Scotland should absolutely go there believing that they could win that.
It will be interesting to see how things play out on Saturday, but it seems clear that Ireland are unlikely to receive the type of easy ride that they have often gotten in games against Scotland in the past.
With a triple crown and potential championship on the line, it should make for a fascinating contest.
