A lucky Irish racegoer was celebrating after being crowned Best Dressed winner on Ladies Day at the Cheltenham Festival on Wednesday.

Megan Cunniss, 29, a medical secretary, from Galway, won the award for her effortless elegance, and she had a “good feeling” to thank for picking her winning garments.

The 29-year-old, who designed her own outfit, said: “It’s my first time at Cheltenham. I used to always watch it on the telly, and now I’m here. I designed the outfit myself. I don’t know exactly how much I spent on it, but a lot.

“My husband draws up my designs. We work with a manufacturer in the Middle East, and he makes all our outfits.

“I’m coming to Cheltenham on Thursday, too. Me and my husband were arguing, because he thought I should’ve worn my other outfit today, but I had a good feeling about this one today. I really loved it.

“Even without the Best Dressed it was a special day. I’m happy with the Best Dressed title and I’m thrilled with the prizes.”
