Huge Limerick band from the 90's add an extra night for hometown performance

A HUGELY successful band who toured with big names in the 90s have sold out a homecoming gig in Newcastle West and have now added an extra date.

The Driven was made up of band members from Newcastle West and Rathkeale.

Last year, after 20 years of not playing together, two of the members Brendan Markham and Darren Mullins got back together and took the band back on the road.

In 2025, they sold out a gig in their hometown Newcastle West.

This year, another gig on May 29 sold out within hours and Cleary’s in Newcastle West have now announced a second night on Thursday, May 28.

In 1996 and 1997, the band toured the UK and Europe supporting Skunk Anansie, Stereophonics, The Levellers and Kula Shaker.

At the time, they had signed with Polydor UK and Chrysalis UK and played the major festivals, as well as doing TV appearances and performances.

Speaking about returning to the stage in Newcastle West, singer Brendan Markham said these sell out shows have given them a boost.

“These gigs have sparked a fire again,” he said.

Guitarist Darren Mullins added: “These nights have shown the huge appreciation for the music.”

Tickets for May 28 for the extra show will go on sale today, March 12 on Eventbrite.

People are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
