Stream of the week

Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere

Netflix, streaming now

No one deploys bombastic side eye quite like Louis Theroux. Always at the forefront of showcasing (or, at the very least, strongly alluding to) the underlying rot in the fabric of something (see his work featuring the “most hated” family in America, the paedophiles, the Nazis, and Jimmy Savile), Louis was arguably kind of late to this party. Nonetheless, he’s here now, and as the mother of two girls, I’m eternally grateful he is. His first foray with Netflix, Theroux’s feature-length documentary follows his jaunts through Miami, New York and Marbella, meeting a circle of influencers and online personalities who sit at the more extreme edge of the manosphere. It looks at how prominent figures such as Harrison Sullivan (HSTikkyTokky), Myron Gaines, Nicolas Kenn De Balinthazy (Sneako), Justin Waller and Ed Matthews are shaping how many young males think about masculinity, contributing to a renewed “global men’s rights movement”.

Age of Attraction

You guessed it. A herd of Americans from varying generations descend on a resort and hook up based on attraction instead of age being a factor. With all the dating fodder on this week, you’d swear it was still February; Love is Blind: The Reunion, showcasing the updated faces of Nick and Vanessa Lachey, is available now.

For more European true‑crime tales, Danish documentary A Friend, a Murderer is also available.

Boyfriend on Demand

Boyfriend on Demand

When you only have a spare three hours a day, you’d rather be plunged directly into the perfect date in VR instead of swiping right for an eternity. While it might be a cheesy K-drama, it does raise some valid viewpoints. If live-action Manga is more your bag, check out Season 2 of One Piece.

Battle of Fates
