A man and a woman have been arrested after €5.25m worth of cocaine was seized in Co Monaghan yesterday.
The seizure was made after gardaí stopped a number of vehicles and searched a business premises as part of Operation Tara, which targets organised crime.
A man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s were arrested under Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006.
They are currently detained, under Section 50 of Criminal Justice Act 2007, at garda stations in the Monaghan Division.
Gardaí attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau supported by the Dublin Crime Response Team took part in the operation alongside the Custom Revenue Service, local units in Monaghan and international partners from the Belgian Federal Maritime Police.
The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
