It’s Thursday morning in the Westbury Hotel, and Pat Kenny is in a subdued mood. He has just returned from a week in Portugal and we’re talking about the launch of his new weekend radio show on Newstalk.

Kenny has moved from the daily mid-morning slot he occupied for 12-and-a-half years, to make way for Claire Byrne’s five-days-a-week show. I tell him he sounds “a little bit disappointed” about the change.
