Liverpool have been given the green light to sign Eduardo Camavinga in the summer transfer window, with reports that Real Madrid are open to selling the France international.

Camavinga joined Real Madrid from Rennes in 2021 in a deal worth around £40million. Since then, he has gone on to become one of the most well-rounded midfielders in world football.

At 23 years of age his CV already has two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, two Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups and the Club World Cup on it. He was also part of the France squad that finished as runners-up to Argentina in the 2022 World Cup.

Camavinga Can Do Everything In The Midfield

Speaking after he joined Real Madrid, French football expert Robin Bairner said: “There has been a lot of talk about a change in position, from a six to an eight. His game cannot be pigeonholed. He can do a bit of everything and is a complete midfielder.”

Landry Chauvin worked with Camavinga in the youth set up at Rennes.

He said: “Eduardo is unique. It is impossible to compare him to anyone; left foot, box-to-box, and a modern midfielder. We can’t have a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a box-to-box anymore; we must have three players who can do all roles in a 4-3-3. This is what Eduardo can do.

“In the beginning, he will observe how [Luka] Modric and [Toni] Kroos play, and then he’ll begin to play himself. By the end of the season, he’ll be indispensable. In the next three years, he’ll be one of the best players in the world.”

Indeed Camavinga has been indispensable in recent seasons, being one of the first names on the teamsheet at the Santiago Bernabeu. He has played 212 times for Real in five seasons, but his time in the Spanish capital could be coming to an end.

Marca have reported that Real are willing to listen to offers for the 23-year-old in the summer as they make plans to overhaul their squad during the close season.

Liverpool are among a number of clubs who have tracked Camavinga in the past and could resurrect their interest in the midfield man, particularly with the Marca report stating that Real are willing to listen to offers upwards of €50million (£43million). The Reds are understood to have sounded out Real over a deal during the January transfer window.

That would represent a profit from Real’s point of view, but also seems quite low for a player of Camavinga’s stature.

Camavinga has a contract at the Bernabeu until 2029, meaning Real hold all the cards when it comes to negotiations over a transfer, but the fact they are willing to listen to offers is a u-turn from the Spanish giants, who had previously stated he was not for sale.
