American singer, Doja Cat, decided to speak openly about her mental health and revealed that she has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.

She shared a video on her TikTok in which she defended singer Chappell Roan after she was criticized for her confrontation with the paparazzi.

The singer explained that since childhood she had learned to suppress her feelings and conform to what was expected of her.

“I learned to pretend like I liked something, that I was happy, or that I didn’t like something I was doing, just to make it seem like everything was okay,” she said.

She stated that this way of dealing with emotions had consequences for her over time.

“I did this for years and it eventually got to me, as I think it eventually gets to everyone. Now I suffer from borderline personality disorder,” she declared.

Borderline personality disorder is a condition that affects the way a person perceives themselves and others, which can make daily functioning difficult.

Specifically, it is a disorder that involves a pattern of unstable and intense relationships as well as a damaged self-image.

Doja Cat claims that she has struggled with this disorder her entire life and admitted that therapy has helped her a lot.

“I’ve been going to therapy for years and I feel relief. I’m proud of myself. I’ve come a long way even though I still make mistakes,” she said, among other things. /Telegraph/
