Sky has dropped a first-look image of Fallout and Yellowjackets star Ella Purnell as Rhiannon Lewis in season two of Sweetpea. The darkly comic thriller sees Purnell return as the wallflower-turned-killer as the follow-up season introduces new threats into the narrative.

The synopsis reads: “Navigating a new promotion, an irresistible rebound, and a copycat killer threatening to expose her, the kill list is mounting. And Rhiannon is forced to question whether her perfect ex AJ was right: is she a monster?”

New to the cast this season is Rish Shah, who takes on the role of Rhiannon’s romantic interest Gabriel, as well as Tamsin Greig who stars as Liv, AJ’s mother.

Line of Duty’s Taj Atwal also joins this season as Rhiannon’s “formidable new boss at the Carnsham Gazette” Freya, with Heartstopper’s Jenny Walser newly cast as Rhiannon’s “adoring” new friend Daisy.

The show’s returning cast includes Jeremy Swift (Ted Lasso), Jon Pointing (Big Boys), Ingrid Oliver (Thursday Murder Club), Leah Harvey (Foundation), Nitin Ganatra (EastEnders) and Alexandra Dowling (Game of Thrones).

Speaking of the show’s second outing, executive producers Purnell, Ella Jones and Patrick Walters released a joint statement, saying: “We are thrilled that Sweetpea and the world of Carnsham are back in full swing for season 2, with new and exciting characters for what promises to be an intoxicating ride for Rhiannon as she continuous on her murderous journey.

“This season, the stakes are even higher, and as the consequences.”

This sentiment was matched by Meghan Lyvers, the executive director of Original Scripted for Sky (UK&I), who said: “We are delighted to return with some fan favourites and to introduce a brilliant new cast of such high calibre. Sweetpea’s second season will be packed with wickedly funny moments, dynamic storytelling, and as ever, twisted morality.”

Sweetpea wrapped its second season in November 2025 with Marina actor Leah Harvey posting the news on Instagram.

“All wrapped on Sweetpea season 2!” wrote Harvey. “What a ride. I love playing Marina and I love everyone involved in this mad project! Excited to see it all put together and on our screens! Big up the team!”

Purnell noted a change in tone to the show’s second season, when she told Deadline: “It was a really crazy season. Season one was quite very small and tame in comparison to how bonkers this season is. There’s so much in it. It’s big.”

Sweetpea airs on Sky and NOW in the UK, and Starz in the US. A release date for season 2 is yet to be announced.
