Xiaomi has finally announced the launch of the new POCO X8 Pro phones, which are powered by MediaTek’s high-end Dimensity-series chipsets. That being said, the new phones consist of the POCO X8 Pro, and its slightly-more expensive sibling the X8 Pro Max. What can you expect though? Let’s take a look!
Key Differences

First up is the POCO X8 Pro, which is the smaller of the two devices with its 6.59-inch AMOLED display, which does get incredibly bright at up to 3500 nits of brightness. The phone is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, and comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage along with a massive 6500mAh battery that supports 100W fast charging.
Meanwhile, the X8 Pro Max features a larger 6.83-inch display, although it also comes with the same Gorilla Glass 7i protection as its sibling. It does have an upper hand in terms of performance with the more powerful Dimensity 9500s chip, and is available with a maximum configuration of 12GB of RAM and 512GB storage. Finally, the X8 Pro Max is powered by a larger 8500mAh battery which also charges at 100W.
Two Peas in a Pod

With all that being said though, the two devices do share a lot else in common—they both run Android 16 with HyperOS 3 on top, both have dual camera setups with a 50MP main lens and 8MP ultrawide camera, and they even come with a dedicated LED lighting setup on the camera island, which changes its animation based on notifications and certain games.
More importantly though, both phones come with dedicated cooling systems, which are designed to work in tandem with their high-performance chips. The POCO X8 Pro Max features the POCO 3D IceLoop Cooling System, while the X8 Pro uses a POCO 3D Dual-layer IceLoop Cooling System to keep things chill during gaming.
The Biggest Highlight
Of course in addition to their performance, one of the biggest selling points of these phones is, to put it bluntly, their price. At a starting price of around $480 for the X8 Pro Max and $360 for the X8 Pro (when converted), you’re getting top-tier performance and battery hardware for less than the price of a Google Pixel 10a. Sure, some might take issue with the amount of pre-installed third party apps on the phones, but users who are after pure performance might find a lot to like about the POCO X8 Pro series.
