Noreen Higgins marked her retirement from St Conal’s Hospital in Letterkenny last week, closing one important chapter before beginning an exciting new one.
Originally from Kincasslagh, Noreen built her life in Letterkenny after marrying her husband, the late Peadar Higgins, in 1978. Together they created a warm and busy family home, raising their five children.
Noreen devoted herself to her home and children in those early years, and when her youngest child reached the age of eight, she stepped into a new chapter, beginning work at the county clinic in St Conal’s on 22nd January 1996.
She was known for the warm and thoughtful way she approached her work, treating the clinic as an extension of her own home.
Now entering retirement, Noreen remains at the heart of a large and loving family. She is a proud mother of five, grandmother to 11 grandchildren and great-grandmother to two. She also continues to care for her mother, Betty Doogan, on Cruit Island.
With a big birthday to celebrate in May, this is a special time for Noreen and her family.
We wish her all the best in her retirement.
