The release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge hit an unexpected roadblock as its Tamil and Telugu versions failed to roll out as planned, leaving fans disappointed. Despite earlier assurances, the dubbed editions of the Ranveer Singh-led film did not make it to theatres on time, forcing exhibitors to cancel multiple shows on the second day.

Across several locations, particularly in the South, scheduled Telugu screenings were abruptly called off, with theatres initiating refunds for ticket holders. The issue reportedly stemmed from delays in delivering the dubbed versions to cinema halls, leaving exhibitors with no choice but to drop the regional-language shows altogether.

Industry analyst Anupam Reddy pointed to poor planning as the root cause of the situation. “Producers’ lack of planning is leading to this chaos. We are sure that the movie will be received by tonight so that we don’t have to cancel tomorrow’s shows,” he told SCREEN.

An exhibitor from Hyderabad further explained the technical glitch behind the disruption, stating, “A KDM is a digital encryption key that “unlocks” a film’s digital print (DCP) at a specific theatre at a specific time. Without it, even if a theatre has the film’s hard drive, the content simply cannot be screened. For dubbed versions, which require separate DCPs and separate KDMs, the delivery window is even tighter.”
