Ryanair has released a statement after flights were temporarily halted and fire crews rushed to Manchester Airport following an incident on Thursday evening (March 19).
Emergency services were spotted at the airport after Ryanair flight RK558 from Dublin to Manchester touched down just after 6pm at Terminal 3. Firefighters were deployed to accompany the aircraft as a precautionary measure due to a ‘mechanical problem’, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Manchester Airport suspended operations for approximately seven minutes whilst emergency personnel dealt with the situation. Reports suggest smoke was observed emanating from the aircraft.

In a statement released this morning (Friday), Ryanair confirmed that a ‘minor tech issue’ had impacted the plane. Engineers examined the aircraft once all passengers had left.
Photographs from the incident showed numerous emergency response vehicles positioned beside the plane. The emergency presence was subsequently reduced.
A Ryanair spokesperson said: “Flight RK558 from Dublin to Manchester (March 19) experienced a minor tech issue upon landing. Passengers and crew disembarked normally, and the aircraft was towed back to stand to be inspected by Ryanair engineers.”
