Stuart Geoghegan (43) of Ravens Wood, Dublin Road, Malahide, Co Dublin appeared in Dublin District Court on Saturday, March 21, charged with dangerous driving causing the death of Michael Drew (60s) of Duleek, Co Meath on the R129 near Blakes Cross, North Dublin on Friday, January 31, 2025.

A man accused of dangerous driving causing the death of a man in his 60s has been prohibited from driving any vehicle as a condition of his bail, a court has heard.

Stuart Geoghegan (43) of Raven’s Wood, Dublin Road, Malahide, Co Dublin appeared in Dublin District Court on Saturday, March 21.

He is charged with dangerous driving causing the death of Michael Drew (in his 60s) of Duleek, Co Meath on the R129 near Blakes Cross, North Dublin on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Sergeant Darren Farrelly of Balbriggan Garda Station told Judge Shalom Binchy he arrested the accused at 5.48pm on Friday, March 20 under Section 53 of the Road Traffic Act for dangerous driving causing death.

Sgt Farrelly said the accused was charged and made no reply after caution.

The sergeant said there were concerns in relation to bail. However, defence solicitor Aoife McNicolls said the conditions have been agreed on consent.

The conditions of bail include that the accused sign on three times a week at Malahide Garda Station, reside at Raven’s Wood, Dublin Road, Malahide, provide gardai with his current phone number within 48 hours of taking up bail.

He is also not to have any contact directly or indirectly with any witnesses and is not to drive any motor vehicle for the duration of his bail.

The accused is also to surrender his passport within 48 hours of taking up bail.

Judge Binchy fixed bail on the accused’s own bond of €750, subject to the bail conditions.

The case was adjourned to Balbriggan District Court on Thursday, April 30 when the book of evidence is expected to be ready.

Three vehicles were involved in the collision and the male driver of one of the vehicles, Michael Drew, of Duleek, Co Meath was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female occupant of another vehicle was taken to hospital with what were understood to be non-life threatening injuries.
