The President of the Convenience Stores and Newsagents Association is urging people not to be abusive towards staff amid rising fuel prices around the county.

Petrol and diesel prices have risen since the war in Iran began, with prices set to rise at the pumps again tonight by 6.3 cent per litre, excluding VAT.

In Ireland, 60% of what is charged on the forecourt is applied by the Government.

The association’s president, Vincent Jennings says its members and the staff at in petrol stations aren’t creating or setting the prices.

He’s appealing for people to not take the price increases out on staff:
