Facing just two rivals with little to recommend them, it’ll be quite the turn-up if KILDINAN PRINCE doesn’t open his account for Emma Lavelle in this maiden hurdle. Runner-up in both his starts to date, the first one in Ireland, he showed fairly useful form on his stable debut at Ascot last time when chasing home Mondoui’boy who has since run very well at the Cheltenham Festival, so this really should be a penalty kick.
LIVIN ON LUCO is prone to the odd stinker, as in the Eider last time, but he won the Southern National at Fontwell earlier in the season and a reproduction of his effort when fourth in the Welsh National would make Philip Hobbs & Johnson White’s stayer the one to beat. Egbert looked rejuvenated for his new yard when making a winning return for Christian Williams at Haydock and is the obvious threat, with Iron Bridge best of the others.
Christian Williams’ FORTUNEFAVORSDBOLD has been placed numerous times since her last win two years ago but looked back to her best when beaten only by subsequent dual winner Fay Ce Que Voudras at Leicester last month and can end her losing run in this mares’ chase with Harry Cobden booked. Seasmoke won at Market Rasen in the autumn before some lesser efforts more recently and is feared most back on better ground.
MWABANI may ultimately need longer trips than this but his two second places at Exeter and Chepstow behind some fairly useful juvenile hurdlers sets a clear standard on form and Jane Williams’ gelding can see off Dakota Star who has himself been placed in both his runs. Doha Rally and Longmoor are likely sorts making their debuts for good yards and need considering if the market speaks in their favour.
Nicky Martin’s GOT A DREAM won his two starts in the autumn at Chepstow and Warwick and may progress again stepping up further in trip to land the hat-trick returning from a break as he goes well fresh. Likeable young stayer Call Me Legend was denied his own hat-trick when bumping into another progressive rival Peacenik at Newbury last time and is feared, along with Court In A Storm, another who has had a break over the winter and seems best when fresh.
Very little to go on in this bumper with all seven of these making their Rules debut. HENRIETTAREDHEART won a point bumper in December and is out of a bumper-winning mare who proved fairly useful over hurdles, so Stuart Kittow’s mare gets the nod. Dadavic and Call Me Ken won their only starts in point bumpers too and are others to consider before the benefit of market clues.
