A body has been discovered following a fire at the same house where a young boy and his grand-aunt were murdered in Co Offaly last year.

Four-year-old Tadhg Farrell and his grand-aunt Mary Holt died after a petrol bomb attack on the house in Castleview Park in Edenderry on 6 December.

It is understood this blaze broke out at around 4am and gardaí, ambulance and fire crews attended the scene.

It is believed one family member had been living at the house, despite the fire last December causing extensive damage to the property.

This morning gardaí confirmed a body had been found at the house.

Gardaí say they are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery, including that it may have been a tragic incident.

A post mortem examination will be carried out on the body which gardaí say will determine the course of any garda investigation.

The scene is preserved for forensic examination.
