At least two of Cork’s Munster SHC games are set to be shown free-to-air by RTÉ, following the announcement of the GAA+ schedule for the coming championship season.

The subscription streaming service, which is owned by the association, will broadcast the Rebels’ third provincial fixture, away to Waterford on Saturday, May 9. The game at Azzurri Walsh Park has a 6.30pm throw-in time.

Given the popularity of the Munster championship, it’s all-but-certain that Ben O’Connor’s first championship match in charge of Cork on Sunday, April 19, away to Tipperary – a repeat of last year’s All-Ireland final – and the home clash with Limerick a week later will be on the national broadcaster.

Both GAA+ and RTÉ will show games from the final round of provincial fixtures on Sunday, May 24, with the choices made closer to the time, depending on how the qualification picture looks. Cork host Clare on that date.

Two of the three other Munster games chosen by GAA+ feature Waterford, at home to Tipperary and away to Limerick, while Tipperary-Clare will also be streamed. Five Leinster SHC games have been picked.

In total, 40 matches will be carried on GAA+, with a season pass from www.gaaplus.ie costing €95 while GAA members can avail of a 10 percent discount via the Foireann platform.

Matches are available to buy individually for €15 or as a three-for-two bundle for €30. All care-giving locations will again receive access free of charge via the HSE and Nursing Homes Ireland. A GAA club pass is priced at €150 and commercial premises pass at €300.

The GAA say that it will reinvest 83c of every euro generated in the development of Gaelic games across coaching, local club, county and player welfare aid.
