Lidl Ireland said today it will make further price cuts across its own-brand milk and butter range.

Effective immediately, Lidl said the price of a standard 2-litre carton of milk will drop to €2.25 from €2.35, while a pound block of Irish Creamery Butter will be reduced from €3.39 to €2.99.

The retailer also cut the price of its milk and butter prices last October.

It said the latest price cuts will pass about €5m in savings directly on to its customers.

Robert Ryan, Chief Executive Officer of Lidl Ireland & Northern Ireland, said that it was proud to once again lead the market by dropping the price of milk and butter, passing savings directly on to shoppers.

“We remain dedicated partners to the Irish agricultural community, ensuring that as we deliver value to shoppers, we continue to support the long-term viability of the local producers who supply our 100% Irish milk and butter,” Mr Ryan added.
