13:15 Haydock – Prague
PRAGUE now has his ideal conditions and has a good solid level of form at the track. Gifted a stall one draw over this mile trip is a big positive as he’s going to go the shortest route around and hopefully produce that trademark change of gear late on.
13:35 Kempton – Giavellotto
GIAVELLOTTO could well serve it up to the odds-on favourite and last year’s winner, Kalpana, over a surface that clearly suits him well. He hasn’t had much racing this season, and on official ratings, doesn’t appear to have too much to find. Oisin Murphy will be taking dead aim at Colin Keane in the straight.
13:50 Haydock – Bow Echo
BOW ECHO made a big impression on his racecourse debut just 22 days ago. After a slow start he got into contention and fairly blew the opposition away. The likely favourite Publish didn’t run last weekend because of the softer ground conditions. That has to be a worry if the ground gets soft at Haydock before the off.
14:05 Kempton – Superposition (each-way)
This has long been the target since SUPERPOSITION bolted up in one of the qualifying races over this course and distance.
It clearly looks like he was having a prep run at Yarmouth last time when dropped down to 7 furlongs, and he was very keen and fresh throughout that contest. Granted natural improvement from that run and back under his ideal conditions, he’s been overlooked in the market..
14:25 Haydock – Grand Descans
He’ll have to turn the form around with Circus of Rome, but that is highly possible now that GRAND DESCANS gets back onto a grass surface with a little bit of ease in the ground. He appears to have no stamina issues and stepping up in trip to 1m 6f, could clearly bring about a good jolt of improvement.
14:40 Ascot – lEADMAN (EACH-WAY)
LEADMAN returns to his optimum conditions, having run an absolute cracker at Newbury before stepping up in distance and finishing full of running from an impossible position at York last time.
The track should also play to his strengths with plenty of pace on to run at. Expect him to be played fast and late underneath the excellent Harry Davies.
15:00 Haydock – Contacto
He’s been expensive for me to follow, but probably hasn’t had a couple of important factors in his favour recently.
CONTACTO has been trying two miles, and also the ground has been quicker than ideal, especially at Ascot. He now gets some give underfoot and surely with his light weight, from a perch of just 85, he has a good bit of wriggle room yet.
15:15 Ascot – Tenability
TENABILITY looked really good when claiming the hat trick of victories at this venue last time, despite being very keen early on and then producing a trademark change of gear to secure that success.
He’s like a few in the lineup who may well appreciate some give underfoot, and he clearly is nowhere near his ceiling rating at the moment.
15:35 Haydock – Flora of Bermuda (each-way)
The Group 1 Betfair Sprint Cup and FLORA OF BERMUDA was unlucky in this contest last season. She has run with credit this term to suggest her breakthrough success at the top level is near.
There are a few speedy runners drawn close by, which will help her hold-up tactics. The Andrew Balding/PJ McDonald combination has a very healthy strike rate together. Paddy has her at a healthy each-way price.
