It seems a lifetime ago now that Brendan Rodgers was in charge of Celtic.
That Monday evening in October will go down as one of the most dramatic in Celtic’s modern history.
From Rodgers leaving the club, Dermot Desmond verbally battering Rodgers, and then the shock return of Martin O’Neill.
It all went off, and in typical Celtic style, the drama has continued and, somehow, reached even higher heights with O’Neill trying to pick up the pieces.
As of this moment, Celtic are sitting third in the Premiership table, they lost the League Cup final to St Mirren under Wilfried Nancy, and are in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
When 67 Hail Hail asked our TalkingPoints readers, ‘What position would Celtic be in NOW if Brendan Rodgers was still in charge?’ It sparked an interesting debate.
What position would Celtic be in NOW if Brendan Rodgers was still in charge?
Things could’ve been very different…

First and foremost, Rodgers’ record at Celtic speaks for itself, but it was clear that he had become disillusioned at the club following the conclusion of the 2025 summer transfer window.
That was portrayed in Celtic’s style of play, with the champions of Scotland producing performances that would put you to sleep.
Not forgetting that Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League by minnows Kairat Almaty, which seemingly blew everything up.
That’s probably why some of our readers think Celtic would be ‘no better’ off had their Treble-winning coach stayed on, with other users suggesting the Hoops would be ‘fourth’ or even ‘fifth.’

Rodgers would be playing his favourites and boring us to death with his interminable tippy tappy horseshoe tactics.’jamestrainer05: ‘Would that be the tippy tappy horseshoe tactics that makes him the 2nd most successful manager in our history?’mikeycolgan: ‘Would that be the same manager who bored us all to death and walked out twice when he got found out?’tonymac44: ‘I think possibly around 5th place, as we were on a downward spiral under Rodgers. Not all his own doing.’johnprior999: ‘Organisations that are in turmoil don’t win. We need all aspects of the club on the same page for next season, or the same nonsense will continue.’hunt878: ‘Fourth.’madmick887: ‘Fifth’dermotryan049: ‘I think Celtic will win the Scottish Premiership by a tight margin. Maybe by 1 or 2 points. The hoops have 1 more home game compared to Hearts and Rangers.’Join Our Newsletter
