As Sullivan’s Crossing gears up for a brand-new season, Chad Michael Murray is getting candid about a major change for season 4.

The latest installment of the hit drama is set to air on Monday, April 20, 2026, on the CW, and fans are more than ready to head back to the Crossing for another go-around. But things are going to look a little different, given the shocking news of Scott Patterson (who portrayed Harry “Sully” Sullivan) leaving Sullivan’s Crossing before season 4.

While Scott was honest about his reason for leaving the show, it leaves us to wonder what the rest of the cast thinks about the major decision. Well, Chad (who plays Cal Jones) is now giving his thoughts, as he broke his silence about Scott’s exitin a March 22 interview with Yahoo! Canada.

As he explained to the outlet, despite how sad it was to lose Scott, the show managed to turn the negative scenario into something more positive.

“It’s one of those situations where you go, ‘Okay, well, just look at the show. What is the show? Where does it sit? And how do you hold it up and keep it true to itself?’” he said. “And that’s all on the text and the storytelling. There’s no question in my mind that we did that. The show stays totally true to itself.”

So, how will his absence be folded into season 4 when it returns in April?

Chad acknowledged that Sully may not be physically present, but he is still an important figure.

“He still exists in this world, and there’s still that relationship,” he added. “And he built the Crossing, so it’s always going to be there, and that’s kind of the foundation that the show is built on.”

With all of this in mind, it seems like we’ll have to watch and find out what happens …
