GameSir peripherals are among the best third party controllers you can buy for enhancing your mobile gaming.
These controllers offer a much more compelling mobile gaming experience than just using the touchscreen on your phone. The experience is more like playing on a handheld console such as Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch 2.

GameSir G8 Plus MFi in everyday use
GameSir G8 Plus MFi is the firm’s third controller bearing the G8 moniker; this wired USB-C unit is designed for people who want to avoid any of the latency and pairing headaches of Bluetooth connections.

Unlike the original Galileo G8 wired controller, this new grey and white coloured model is officially Apple-certified, which is what the MFi tag is all about. Apple officially supports its use with both iPhones and iPad Mini. The key differences when compared to the Galileo G8 wired controller are the stretch mechanism on the G8 Plus MFi can handle slightly larger phones (up to 215mm wide) which means the controller can accommodate an iPad Mini. You also get a dual asymmetric vibration motor and improved customisation options.
The magnetic faceplate can be popped off easily, so you can swap out the ABXY layout or the thumbsticks to suit your preference. You can also re-map the two rear buttons. Simply launch your game using the GameSir app on your phone, then make your customisations and you’re good to go.
Despite the ‘Made For iPhone’ tag, this works just as well with Android smartphones and includes all of the excellent features (such as hall effect thumbsticks and triggers, passthrough charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack) that made me describe the G8 Galileo as the firm’s most complete controller yet for enhancing your mobile gaming.

The USB-C connection makes docking your phone both simple and secure.
The super responsive D-pad is a particular highlight, especially helpful in games where precision inputs matter. And, as ever, GameSir’s hall effect sticks and triggers deliver smooth and consistent gameplay. Traditional controllers rely on mechanical contacts for input, but the hall effect sticks and triggers leverage the power of magnetic contacts. This is why you get no drifting in the sticks over time as there is no mechanical switch to wear down with repeated use.
The USB-C connection is positioned so that it makes docking both simple and secure. The ergonomics are superb too.
One caveat with a wired connection means this controller is not compatible with Nintendo Switch, but GameSir offers plenty of other gamepads which do support Switch and Switch 2.
GameSir G8 Plus MFi verdict
GameSir G8 Plus MFi enhances your mobile gaming experience on iPhone, iPad and Android by giving you the high performance capabilities of a console-like controller along with pass through charging, 3.5mm jack and the low latency of a wired connection.
Pricing and availability
GameSir G8 Plus MFi costs €89.99 from Gamesir.com and €95 from Amazon.ie. Both offer free delivery but your product will arrive sooner from Amazon.
