Catching up on sport and local gossip isn’t the most productive way for us all to spend our time

Q I work as the section head in a busy marketing company. Every Monday morning we have a planning meeting, with a mixture of remote and in-person staff.
And every Monday the boss and a couple of cronies start with a long chat about sport, usually the Premier League, what else happened over the weekend, and local gossip.
