Fiona Delargy has been appointed as the new President of Golf Ireland following the organisation’s sixth Annual General Meeting, held on Saturday at the Hodson Bay Hotel.

A member of Cushendall Golf Club, Delargy succeeds Michael Evans, who concluded his term at the meeting. Having served as President-Elect over the past year, she now assumes leadership of the governing body at a time of continued growth and evolution for the sport.

Delargy brings more than four decades of involvement in golf as both a player and administrator. She previously served as Ulster Regional Secretary for Golf Ireland and held multiple leadership roles within the former ILGU structures, as well as at club level in Cushendall.

Her wider sporting governance experience includes roles with Netball Northern Ireland and schools’ netball administration, adding further depth to her leadership profile.

With a busy season ahead and continued focus on participation, inclusion and competitive development, her presidency begins at a time of strong momentum for golf across the island.

“I’m very proud and honoured to be in this privileged position,” she said. “I am proud to be the first Ulster female president of Golf Ireland, so that is also a particular honour.”

She pointed to the breadth of Golf Ireland’s work across participation and inclusion as a key strength of the organisation.

“Golf Ireland has catered for everybody, from GolfSixes through to our veterans and our golfers with a disability. We are reaching out to absolutely everybody. The ethos is that golf is for everyone.”

Delargy also welcomed the introduction of four new women’s regional championships, describing them as an important step towards greater alignment and equality across the competitive calendar.

The AGM also confirmed Joe McNamara as President-Elect, with the Heath Golf Club member set to assume the presidency at the 2027 AGM.

Two new Board appointments were ratified, with Moira Lynott elected as Regional Director and Richard Hills appointed as a Nominated Director, each serving four-year terms.

Lynott brings extensive governance and officiating experience across Munster and nationally, while Hills adds significant international expertise, having previously served as European Ryder Cup Director across 12 editions between 1995 and 2018.
