People are being advised to check they have enough medication ahead of the Easter Bank Holiday period.

The Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has warned GP surgeries and pharmacies are set to close between Friday and Monday, or operate with reduced hours during the four days.

Patients who need a repeat prescription have been urged to place their orders “immediately” as it can take up to 72 hours for medications to be processed and dispensed.

“Running out of essential medication can lead to unnecessary health risks and puts additional pressure on urgent care services and NHS 111, which often see a significant spike in calls over bank holidays,” a spokesperson for the Trust said.
