Reboot appears to have adopted HBO’s signature gritty tone

The teaser trailer for HBO’s new Harry Potter series opens with ominous music, a voiceover declaring “I told you, you are a normal boy” and shots of young Harry fleeing from bullies and curled up in his cupboard under the stairs.
The colours are notably dark and very HBO. People who haven’t seen the original movies or read the books might wonder what’s going on when an unnamed Hagrid mentions Hogwarts, but that’s OK. I’m not sure there’s anyone on the planet who is unfamiliar with the story.
