It’s claimed there’s deep sadness surrounding the sale of a historic East Clare pub.

With roots going back to 1890, Bohan’s Pub in Feakle has been put on the market, marking the end of an era for one Clare family.

Originally Fitzgerald’s, it was a fairly substantial business in the community starting off as a combined pub, grocers and drapers.

Fr Harry Bohan, who was born and reared there, and whose parents ran the pub for many years, says the sale is a sign of changing times, but he’s hopeful some of its historic character can be preserved.
