Maura Derrane has jetted off to soak up the sunshine on a stunning spring getaway.

The RTE Today Show presenter is currently in Lisbon, Portugal, with her son Cal to get a break from the dreary Irish weather.

She took to Insagram to share a couple of snaps of her holiday, including a selfie of her in sunglasses enjoying the weather and one of Cal in the pool.

She wrote: “Much needed re-energising [sun emoji] after such a dreary winter. A city break/sun holiday in one #Lisbon. So much to do here. Will post a reel with recommendations in a few days. The weather is amazing 24 degrees, so thankfully I booked a hotel with the most amazing pool (inside and out) to keep everyone happy.”

Her followers flooded the comments with kind messages, as one person wrote: “What a BABE! Hope you have the best time. So well deserved.”

“Lovely photos Maura, enjoy your break,” said another.

A third gushed: “You look absolutely incredible Maura. Enjoy your well deserved holiday.”

Maura’s trip away comes after The Today Show recently celebrated a major milestone in March.

It reached a whopping 2,000 episodes and to mark the occasion, all three presenters Maura Derrane, Dáithí Ó Sé and Sinead Kennedy hosted the programme live from RTÉ Cork studios.

This was the first time all three presenters have hosted the show together.

Maura Derrane and Dáithí Ó Sé started on Today on November 1st 2012 and were joined by presenter Sinéad Kennedy in September 2020.

The programme has gone through some major changes through the years from new sets, hundreds of contributors and many fantastic guests.

Director General of RTÉ Kevin Bakhurst congratulated the show on its achievement, saying in a statement: “I’d like to thank and congratulate everyone involved in Today over the years.

“The programme continues to engage and entertain audiences across Ireland – for many it is valued company during the afternoon.

“The show also consistently attracts really positive engagement on social media, which has extended the show’s audience beyond the schedule.

“The creativity, energy and commitment from everyone involved has inspired our plans to produce more great programmes from Cork and around Ireland”.
