A number of collections of postcards have gone to auction, including ‘scarce’ Donegal street scenes.
They form part of Whyte’s Auctioneers ‘Eclectic Collector’ online auction, which runs from April 7 to the 18th.
The estimated prices of the collections vary from €150 to €300 and include street scenes from Buncrana (below), Donegal Town and Stranorlar.
One lot, of 60 Donegal postcards, has been described by the auctioneers as including ‘scarce street scenes. Many of these are very good in an antique album and have an estimated value of between €200-€300.

A vintage London Midland or Scottish railway tourism poster of Sheephaven Bay (below), featuring a scene by the famous Paul Henry, has an estimated price of between €600-€800. It measures 40 by 25in. (101.6 by 63.5cm) and the current bid stands at €440.
The auction contains a fascinating array of historical artefacts from over six centuries, including manuscripts, documents, photographs, books, militaria, medals, weapons, memorabilia including advertising, sport and entertainment memorabilia, posters, postcards, photographs, coins, banknotes and other collectibles in over 500 lots.
