Skydance Animation and Netflix have released the official trailer and new artwork for Swapped (FKA Pookoo), a body-switch buddy comedy directed by Nathan Greno, set to debut May 1.
The film pairs an unlikely duo: a small woodland creature and a majestic bird, natural enemies within their shared ecosystem, who are suddenly forced to see life from each other’s perspective. Literally.

The trailer leans heavily into physical comedy and visual contrast, playing up the absurdity of each character adapting to new anatomical limitations while hinting at a broader emotional arc centered on empathy and coexistence.
Produced by John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews, Swapped continues Skydance Animation’s push into high-concept, family-oriented storytelling. The screenplay is by John Whittington alongside Christian Magalhaes and Robert Snow, with a score by Siddhartha Khosla.
Whether Swapped can break through a crowded streaming ecosystem without theatrical buzz, and in the wake of another animal-starring body-swap comedy – Pixar’s Hoppers – remains to be seen. Still, it will be one of the biggest tests yet of the Netflix-Skydance partnership, ahead of Ray Gunn from The Incredibles and The Iron Giant director Brad Bird later this year.
