Next week, Casualty returns to our screens after a short break – and it’s the day of the all-important inspection in Holby ED. Can the team pull together under pressure, with the future of the hospital on the line? Elsewhere, Siobhan faces her attacker in prison, and tensions are high between Iain and Faith.

Here is our round-up of all the biggest moments coming up, in the penultimate episode of the current boxset, ‘Learning Curve’.

1. Ceri returnsceri, casualty

The ED team are on high alert on the day of the final CQC inspection, especially Flynn and Stevie. This time, the stakes are higher than ever – if they fail this safety review, the hospital will lose its major trauma status for good. Flynn and Siobhan have prepared for the worst and have written resignation letters in case things don’t go to plan.

As the pressure rises, the team are thrown into action as a major trauma kicks off, and they respond to the incident as CQC inspector Ceri watches on.

2. Matty corrects a mistakematty linlaker, casualty episode 10

Kim’s condition is deteriorating, with her health worsening since she started using weight-loss injections discarded by a patient. As the inspection gets underway, Kim is haunted by intrusive thoughts about food. She is distracted while taking a patient’s blood, but snaps back into focus when she rushes them to resus.

Matty takes over treatment of the patient, but he notices that Kim’s handwriting is illegible on the blood forms. Acting without thinking to protect his friend, Matty edits the form and corrects Kim’s mistake.

3. Siobhan faces her traumasiobhan mckenzie, casualty episode 10

Ahead of taking time off from work following her horrific attack, Siobhan heads to the prison to face Chris, the man who raped her. As the visiting room fills up, tensions are high between the other prisoners who taunt one another.

Chris’s absence leaves Siobhan confused, and her suspicions grow when it’s announced that the visiting hall will go into lockdown as a result of an incident. There are very dramatic prison scenes ahead, but will Siobhan get to speak to Chris?

4. Kim makes a promisekim chang, casualty episode 10

Matty’s interference comes back to haunt him, as Ceri reports that the patient’s bloods need repeating because of the edited forms. With the team left fearing that the inspection is over before it’s even begun, frustrated Stevie warns Kim that there can be no more mistakes from her today.

Kim locks herself in the bathroom and Matty rushes after her, desperate to help. To appease Matty, Kim promises that she will seek professional help for her eating disorder after the inspection. But after Matty leaves, Kim secretly injects herself with another dose of the weight-loss drug. Will she ever get the help she needs?

5. Iain and Faith remain frostyfaith cadogan, iain dean, casualty

BBC

Iain and Jacob bring in a potentially dangerous patient to the ED, and Iain checks that Faith is okay to take him – but she brushes him off, leaving him regretting that he ever asked.

As Jacob shows his colleague a video of baby Carter to remind him of what’s to come, Iain doesn’t know what the future holds now that Faith has issued him with a legal agreement about shared custody of their child.

Can Iain and Faith find a way forward together?

Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and now streams first on BBC iPlayer, where episodes are released at 6am on the day of transmission.
