Temperatures are set to soar next week
Ireland is braced for the arrival of Storm Dave, which is set to unleash powerful gale force winds and spells of heavy rain across the country today and into Easter Sunday.
A Status Yellow wind warning is in place for the entire country from 1pm on Saturday afternoon to 2am on Sunday morning, with Met Eireann warning that the “most disruptive spell of windy weather” will occur during this period.
A Status Yellow rain warning is also in place for counties Mayo and Donegal from 8am until 4pm today, with the forecaster warning of heavy rain at times.
Along with powerful and potentially damaging gusts of wind and torrential downpours, the country is set for a bitterly cold night ahead, with temperatures plummeting to 0C overnight.
While the miserable conditions look set to put a dampener on many people’s Easter Bank Holiday plans, there is some hope on the horizon, with a weather expert revealing that ‘a brief blast of warm’ will send temperatures soaring next week.
Alan O’Reilly, of Carlow Weather, told his 300,000 followers that conditions are set to improve dramatically on Tuesday, with the thermometer predicted to climb to 16C.
However, the warm spell won’t stick around for too long, with temperatures set to drop considerably on Thursday.

“A brief blast of warm air on Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures up to 16c before dropping back quickly on Thursday,” O’Reilly said.
Met Eireann have also forecast a surge in temperatures next week, with the national forecaster predicting highs of 17C in some areas.
According to their latest forecast, Tuesday is expected to be a rather wet day with showery outbreaks of rain moving northeastwards throughout the day. However, it will feel mild and humid with highest temperatures of 12C to 16C or 17C in light to moderate south to southeast breezes.
Wednesday will start of cloudy but becoming brighter through the morning with the chance of some hazy sunny spells developing. It will remain dry for most apart from isolated showers in the east, although cloud will start to increase from the west again later in the evening with outbreaks of rain and drizzle.
Met Eireann have forecast another mild and humid day, with highest temperatures of 12 to 17 degrees, altough it will be cooler further west.
