Clare’s stint in Division 1B was always likely to be a brief one and they’ve the chance to return to the top tier as champions when they face Dublin this afternoon.

Whatever about the merits of playing this game as a curtain-raiser to the Division 1A final, both teams should benefit from the outing.

The Banner will be keen to get out of an incredibly difficult Munster group and challenge for provincial and All-Ireland glory once again after lifting the Liam MacCarthy in 2024.

Dublin’s goal appears set on challenging for a first Leinster title since 2013. Beating Clare and being promoted as champions of Division 1B would be quite the shot in the arm for Niall Ó Ceallacháin’s men.
