THANKYOUFORTHEDAYS looked a very well-handicapped horse when landing a gamble with plenty to spare for Philip Dempsey in a handicap at Naas last month and a 13 lb rise may not prevent a follow-up. Jet To Monte Carlo, runner-up to a useful sort in a maiden at Thurles two starts back and making his handicap debut, heads a long list of potential improvers that also includes top-weight Saveforarainyday, a wide-margin winner of a mares’ maiden at Limerick last time.

Willie Mullins saddles five in this Grade 2 juvenile hurdle, with MAJOLIQUE arguably the most interesting of them. She missed the Triumph Hurdle, having created a very favourable impression at Naas in February, and may well improve beyond the standard achieved by Proactif, who was the beaten favourite at Cheltenham. Macho Man made a race-ending mistake in the Triumph, but he could easily bounce back in slightly calmer waters.

SHABBY HILL looked a smart prospect for Charles Byrnes when staying on to win a novice at Navan last month and so tops the shortlist on his debut in a handicap. Healys Pub is another unexposed sort heading into handicaps, having won a maiden at Naas last time and will be suited by this longer trip. With Grann’s Boy, successful at this meeting last year and in good form over hurdles in the autumn, another to consider after a recent spin on the Flat.

Unexposed KAWABOOMGA gets the vote in a competitive renewal, with stablemate Storm Heart fancied to make it a one-two for Willie Mullins in this Grade 2 hurdle, following an eye-catching third in the BetMGM Cup at Cheltenham. The selection’s maiden form from last season, which included a course win, could hardly have worked out any better, and he made a most encouraging return from more than a year off when fourth to Storm Heart in the Red Mills Trial Hurdle at Gowran last time.

This renewal of the Fairyhouse Chase looks trappy to say the least, with Willie Mullins’ veteran ENERGUMENE given the very tentative nod back in Grade 2 company, with this trip perhaps what he needs at this late stage of his career. Found A Fifty also eases in class after being pulled up in the Queen Mother Champion Chase and that may prompt a revival, with Blood Destiny arguably the solid option after winning the Newlands Chase at Naas last time.

SEARCH FOR GLORY might have won the Ultima at Cheltenham but for unseating at the last and is taken to gain compensation and provide Gordon Elliott with a second Irish Grand National. The Jukebox Kid and One Big Bang, who was third in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham, are strong contenders from Britain. Argento Boy and Joystick are Willie Mullins handicap newcomers who leave the impression long distances could suit them, while the progressive Showurappreciation also merits respect.

PRENDS GARDE A TOI’s run in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir was too bad to be true, but Gordon Elliott’s novice had been a good fourth in the Grand National Trial at Punchestown before that, so it is worth another chance with his sights lowered. Union Station was an eye-catching fourth in the National Hunt Chase at the Festival, so it is another to consider, along with handicap debutant Butch Cassidy, who has potential stepping up in trip.

Gordon Elliott’s CHARISMATIC KID looks the one to beat in this bumper, having finished third behind a couple of stablemates in a Grade 2 at the Dublin Racing Festival. Jeroboam Machin won that same contest at Leopardstown in 2024 and was made favourite for the Champion Bumper afterwards, but has been absent since, while the selection’s stablemate Soul Asylum looked a good prospect when winning at Punchestown in February.
