The animal charity has warned other owners against attempting to groom their pets at home

A Persian cat who suffered a seriously bad bazz needs a new home. Mr Benson came to the Cork Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (CSPCA) with a matted coat and injuries after a grooming gone wrong.
The 3-year-old kitty came to the animal charity from the NSPCA Welfare Officer for Cork. He was so matted that he needed a ‘Number One’ buzz all over. He had also suffered a couple of wounds due to what the charity describes as a “home groom going wrong.” The good folks at Glasslyn Vet Clinic took him in for a makeover and medical treatment.

Thankfully, he is now on the mend, and the charity has warned other owners not to attempt anything similar. In a post on social media, they said: “For the safety and comfort of your pet, please consult a qualified professional groomer or your Vet rather than attempting grooming at home.”
Benson is now in need of a new forever home. The neutered male Persian loves food, butt rubs and the chats! He will need regular grooming and spoiling and would prefer to live in a home with older children, a large cat menu and access to the outdoors.

Also rescued recently by the CSPCA was Debbie the Bichon, who was found wandering in Knocknaheeny. Debbie was saved from a life of suffering and has been adopted by her forever family. The sweet little pup now looks completely unrecognisable after being taken off the streets as a “mentally broken” and life-threateningly ill stray. See her story here.
