Survivor Season 48 Week 6 Recap
The episode begins the morning after tribal council at the Cila camp. Rizo said he got to show off his strategic chops last night and why he was chosen to play in Survivor 50. He says Operation: Bad Blood was a success. Meanwhile, Dee and Jonathan talk. Jonathan says he’s distraught. He has never been blindsided before. Dee explains that they were worried he would warn Charlie, so that’s why they excluded him from the plan. Dee says the two of them still need each other. Jonathan hopes Dee and Kamilla still want to work with him.
A boat arrives to each camp. They learn the tribes will be merging. All seventeen players will be together at the Vatu camp. Ozzy doesn’t want there to be any secrets between him and his allies, so he reveals to Emily and Christian that he has a hidden immunity idol. Christian says his relationship with Ozzy is complicated. He thinks Ozzy trusts him now, and he says they need the numbers against the other castaways.
All the teams greet each other at the merge. They’re excited to meet each other, especially after watching one another on TV. Christian and Rick are happy to be reunited. They’re still pretending Rick found the hidden immunity that Christian sent to Aubry. We also see Aubry thanking Rick for the immunity idol. Meanwhile, Cirie reveals to Genevieve that Aubry has a hidden immunity idol. Genevieve says she knew it. Genevieve has wanted to get Aubry out of the game since the beginning of the game. Word gets around the entire camp that Aubry has a hidden immunity idol. Aubry also knows that everyone knows about her idol. Genevieve also lets Ozzy know that she sent the Boomerang Idol to him. No one knows that Genevieve sent Rizo an idol too. She doesn’t even tell Rizo that she sent it to him. Genevieve wants there to be one secret so the idol returns to her without anyone knowing.
Ozzy says it’s a bummer that everyone knows about his idol too. Cirie reveals to Ozzy that she told Rizo about the extra vote advantage that Ozzy gave her. Cirie notices the different play styles between old school and new school players. The old school players want to stay loyal to their original alliance, but the new school players are more fluid. Cirie thinks the old school players will hurt themselves with their old way of thinking. We also see a lot of old school players want to play with Jonathan since he was a loyal player his original season.
The tribe gets a letter telling them there is a twist that can change everything. It’s hidden somewhere in the woods. Ozzy ends up finding the scroll. He learns he will go to Exile Island. He must choose one person to join him. That person cannot say no either. Ozzy chooses Rizo since he’s an unknown player in the game.
It’s time for the immunity challenge. Ozzy and Rizo are not there, so they’re skipping the challenge. Jeff reveals a new twist he’s calling the Blood Moon. Three castaways will be voted out tonight. They will compete in an endurance immunity challenge. They will be divided into three groups of five. Each group will go to tribal council. The person who lasts the longest in his or her group will win immunity. Three players will win immunity tonight too. They are also playing for reward. The person who lasts the longest earns his or her group an Applebee’s reward. Jeff adds that everyone who survives the night will make it to the jury portion of the game.
The challenge begins. They must balance on footholds while using walls on either side of them for support. On the Purple group are Genevieve, Aubry, Christian, Rick, and Joe. On the Teal group are Cirie, Emily, Colby, Coach, and Dee. On the Orange group are Jonathan, Stephenie, Tiffany, Kamilla, and Chrissy. Everyone survives the first round, but the second round requires them to lower down on a smaller foothold. Emily is the first to drop. Rick drops next, and he’s followed by Jonathan. Colby takes a hard fall next. Cirie drops soon afterwards. The remaining castaways make it to the final round, lowering themselves on the smallest foothold. Coach is the next to fall. Dee wins immunity! She drops right afterwards. Tiffany is the next to drop. Aubry, Joe, and Genevieve all fall one after the other. Christian wins immunity! He also falls next, meaning the Orange group will enjoy the Applebee’s reward. Kamilla drops next. It’s now down between Chrissy and Stephenie. Chrissy drops. Stephenie wins immunity! All three groups will be separated at different camps before going to tribal council.
Back on Exile Island, Ozzy and Rizo solidify an alliance. They’re also fortunate to avoid going to tribal council tonight. Meanwhile at the sanctuary, the Orange group enjoy their reward. As they’re eating, we hear a confessional from Tiffany. She feels good about her alliance from previous tribes. She thinks Chrissy will be the target tonight.
Meanwhile on the beach with the Purple group, Rick, Christian, and Aubry discuss targeting Genevieve. Aubry says she will be playing her hidden immunity tonight. Aubry is determined to vote out Genevieve tonight. While they’re talking, Genevieve and Joe talk game. Genevieve wants them to vote for Rick tonight since Aubry has an idol. Genevieve believes Christian can be flipped to vote out Rick. That is unlikely, but Genevieve probably is unaware how close Rick and Christian are. Joe believes he and Genevieve are sitting ducks tonight.
In her confessional, Genevieve admits that she’s screwed tonight. Based on the random draw, she is in a bad spot with the people she’s stuck with. Nonetheless, Genevieve gives a pitch to Christian to vote out Rick. Christian humors her, but he calls Genevieve a dangerous player in his confessional. After their conversation, Christian runs to Rick and tells him everything Genevieve told him. Rick worries that Genevieve could have a hidden immunity idol. He wonders if they should vote for Joe tonight instead. Christian reiterates that Genevieve is dangerous.
Back at the beach with the Teal group, Dee says she has a good relationship with the women there. She says Colby and Coach are on the chopping block. Colby admits he’s in a bad spot tonight. He is on the outs, and he also doesn’t have a vote. He lost his vote when he went on the Journey with Savannah a few episodes ago. Coach pitches Emily to Dee, and Dee runs back to Emily and lets her know. In her confessional, Emily says Coach is more chaotic than Colby. She can’t make sense of Coach’s game. Emily and Dee speculate that Colby could be medically evacuated anyway (he hurt his foot), so they could take out Coach tonight. Cirie chats with Dee, and she argues that Colby is more of a leader of his alliance than Coach. She thinks Colby is the bigger threat. We later see Colby pitch his case to Dee. He says he and his allies will protect Dee if she sticks his neck out for him tonight. In her confessional, Dee admits she likes Colby better than Coach. Colby seems sincere, but she’s unsure what to do tonight.
The Orange group returns to camp after their Applebee’s reward. Kamilla and Jonathan discuss voting for Chrissy tonight with Tiffany. Kamilla also wants to do damage control after leaving him out of the Charlie vote. Later, Chrissy tells Kamilla that she knows she’s voting for her tonight. She is in tears, but she still wants them all to be friends. Chrissy acts like she’s accepting her fate, but she’s actually determined to fight for her safety. She pitches to Stephenie and Jonathan to vote for Kamilla tonight. She says Kamilla is the type of player to talk about people behind their backs. Chrissy tells Stephenie and Jonathan that they are cut from the same cloth. Chrissy says the girls are using Jonathan and they won’t vote for him to win this game. In his confessional, Jonathan acknowledges that he’s the swing vote tonight. He says he will draw a line in the sand with his decision tonight. He can either appease the old school players by voting out Kamilla or he can appease the new school players by voting out Chrissy. Which way will he vote?
The Orange group goes to tribal council first. Jeff talks about the Blood Moon twist. Tiffany says she keeps it real, and she was honest to everyone tonight. Jeff asks what is the wise move tonight. Kamilla says it’s to find a group they can navigate the merge with. Jonathan adds that it’s a great time to draw a line in the sand to see where everyone stands. Tiffany says they have to remember that their decision will have ripple effects. There will be people to answer to. Chrissy agrees that they will answer for what they decide to do tonight. Jeff mentions people voted out tonight will not be on the jury. Kamilla really wants to be in the jury. Chrissy says it’s “beautiful” to just be part of the milestone 50th season. Jonathan says “one more day” is always in the back on their minds. Afterwards, it’s time to vote.

Kamilla is the eighth person voted out of Survivor 50. “Drag that man through the mud,” Kamilla says about Jonathan. She gives Tiffany a hug before getting her torch snuffed and walks away.
After the Orange group leaves, the Purple group arrives for tribal council. Jeff asks about the twist again. Genevieve says the luck of the draw is the determining factor. Aubry agrees that luck is a factor, but it’s up to them to make sure they don’t close any doors to people. Christian says he’s glad he’s immune tonight. Joe says they’re making history with this Blood Moon twist tonight. Genevieve says if they have the luxury to have the numbers, they can think about whom to exclude from the jury. However, some players can only focus on survival tonight. Jeff asks if that’s her, and Genevieve shares that she knows people are voting for her tonight. Rick says they all want to be part of Survivor 50 for as long as possible. Afterwards, it’s time for the vote.
Before Jeff reads the votes, Genevieve plays her Shot in the Dark. Jeff opens her scroll. It says “Not Safe.” Any votes for Genevieve will still count.

Genevieve is the ninth person voted out of Survivor 50. She gives Aubry her coat before getting her torch snuffed and walks away.
It’s time for the third and final tribal council of the night. It’s been 15 years since Colby has been to a tribal council. Coach says it’s been 13 or 14 years for him. Jeff asks if it’s like riding a bike or are they out of practice? Coach says he feels the gravity of the night. Colby says it all comes back. He says it’s like riding a bike. Colby says the bar was set high for him since his first time as the runner-up of Survivor: The Australian Outback. Colby says his expectation was the same, and he knows he is a target since he doesn’t have a vote tonight. He’s also without his Shot in the Dark, so he’s a sitting duck. Nonetheless, Colby says he has had more fun this time than any of his previous times. Jeff asks is it really a straightforward vote tonight. Emily says to expect the unexpected. Cirie says it’s not over until the fat lady sings. Jeff asks Colby why he had more fun this time. Colby says he came into this with a completely different attitude. He says he chose to find the joy. He says he’s in his 50s now, and it’s been a time of reflection. Survivor has introduced him to so many people in his life. He gets emotional as he says he appreciates the opportunity of coming back one more time. Jeff says Colby (as well as Cirie and Coach) is one of the icons of Survivor. Dee was three years old when Colby first played Survivor. Cirie says it was 20 years ago since she first played. She had zero expectations, and she’s honored that people look up to her. Coach says this has been a great journey for a lot of the older players. Coach says there is no malice with their votes tonight. Dee says she’s battling with her decisions tonight. She feels guilty not letting one of Colby, Cirie, or Coach be part of the jury tonight. Afterwards, it’s time for the vote.
