About €830,000 worth of suspected controlled drugs has been seized in Lucan, Co Dublin, as part of ongoing investigations under Operation Tara.

Gardaí from the Ronanstown Drugs Unit searched a premises in Lucan on 5 April, recovering one kilo of suspected ketamine with an estimated value of €60,000.

A man in his 20s was arrested and is being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda station in Dublin.

Follow-up searches carried out on 6 April led to the seizure of a further 13 kilos of suspected ketamine, valued at approximately €770,000.

The drugs are due to be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing.

Operation Tara targets drug trafficking networks at international, national and local levels, including those involved in the importation, distribution and sale of controlled drugs.
