Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a crash in Co Cork in which a man in his 50s died.
The man was driving a car that crashed at Castletownroche at about 12.50pm.
The man, who was the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Earlier, gardaí said a pedestrian who was knocked down by a lorry in Co Donegal last week has died in hospita.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which took place at Station Roundabout, Port Road, Letterkenny, at about 3pm last Friday, to contact them.
The pedestrian, a woman in her 40s, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital, where she died on Sunday.
Gardaí have asked any road users who were travelling in the area between 2.15pm and 3.15pm on Friday and may have video footage to contact them.
The two deaths bring the total number of fatalities on Irish roads in 2026 to 44.
Meanwhile, gardaí in Dublin are investigating an incident in which a pedestrian was hit by a bus in Terenure on the city’s southside on Monday morning.
Shortly after 10am, gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision at Terenure Cross, Dublin 6W.
A woman in her 40s was taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.
A technical examination of the scene is being carried out by Garda forensic collision investigators and the road was closed.
