When people arrive at the new V&A East Museum in a few weeks time, they will be greeted by a giant.

The giant is a work of art by London-based artist Thomas J Price and depicts a fictional young person in casual clothing, holding a mobile phone and gazing towards an unseen horizon.

The figure has been created from a blend of source material, including images, 3D scans and observational studies. Cast in bronze, the work combines digital processes with traditional techniques, continuing Price’s exploration of representation within classical sculpture.

The V&A East Museum opens on 18th April as part of the wider East Bank development in the former Olympic Park. Additional features include a ground-floor café, two levels of free permanent galleries and a dedicated temporary exhibition floor above. A fourth-floor roof terrace will give visitors wide views across the Olympic Park towards the London Stadium.

Entry to V&A East Museum will be free, with opening hours from 10am to 6pm daily and late nights on Thursdays and Fridays until 10pm.
