Shane Lowry knew he wasn’t going to win the Houston Open, but he showed he’s got a heart as big as Texas and a bond with his caddie that could prove crucial this week when he handed Darren Reynolds a homemade black ribbon in memory of his late father.

The big Offaly man (39) went out of his way to get a spool of ribbon, a box of safety pins and some scissors so he could fashion two ribbons for them with those famous hands as they set off to do battle in honour of Tony Reynolds, who passed away on March 15.
