A delighted Ballybofey man has won a stunning new home in Kinvara, Co Galway.

Dean Doherty, 46, got the fright of his life when Galway GAA chairman Paul Bellew called him live on Facebook to tell him the news this evening.

A gobsmacked Dean is holidaying in Spain at the moment.

Dean replied “Ah no way, I didn’t win the house, did I?”

Paul replied “No I’m just ringing with a survey” before putting Dean out of his agony and told him he had indeed won the first prize of a €360,000 two bedroom home.

When Paul asked Dean if he could confirm he was over 18 years old, an emotional Dean replied “I am, I’m f***** 46.”

Dean is due to come home next week and will get the keys to his new home.

Just as long as he doesn’t swap the Donegal jersey for the Galway jersey in the championship!
