Gareth Maguire has purchased the pub from previous owner Pat Blake and The Impartial Reporter understands he has big plans for its future.
One plan will be the renaming of the pub to become Maguire’s Derrylin.
The Derrylin native says he is ‘very excited’ by what the future holds and says it ‘has always been a dream’ of his to own his own pub.
And he was keen to own it in Derrylin. The pub is his own business venture and the rest of the band aren’t involved in the ownership.
Blake’s Bar, which has been established for more than a century, is a popular venue within Derrylin.
A spokesperson for the Blake family said they are now looking at other business opportunities after selling.
The spokesperson continued: “It has been under discussion for many months and it is an exciting business proposition for Gareth Maguire.
“He has dramatic plans for a revamp of the pub and we wish him all the best for the future.
“It is the end of an era in Derrylin.”
